2nd Set: Salvation!

Memory Verses: Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6; II Corinthians 6:2; Revelation 3:20; Psalm 100

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"  -I Peter 3:15

This second set of Memory Verses is presented in obedience to I Peter 3:15, "But sanctify the lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you..."  As Christians, God desires of us that we share our faith with those who are not Christians.  This is often referred to as "The Great Commission."  Jesus says in  the Gospel of Mark, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:15).

First of all, we must ourselves receive the Salvation found only in Christ.  When we have received Christ as our Lord and Saviour, the Christian should, in the words of II Timothy 2:15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  That is, we should study God's Word to learn how we have received this Salvation, so that we can present God's message of the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ to others.

Below is a sample way to present the Gospel with new Memory Verses that you can learn for this purpose:

The Good News of Salvation Through Christ

 God Loves You

(You have already memorized this verse in the 1st Set!)

John 3:16

"For God so loved the World, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  -John 3:16

  Sin Separates You From God

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  -Romans 6:23

Salvation is a Free Gift, You Cannot Earn It

Ephesians 2:8,9

"For by grace are ye saved through faith;  and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."  -Ephesians 2:8,9

Salvation is Only Through Christ

John 14:6

"Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes unto the Father, but by me."  -John 14:6

Now Is the Time To Receive Jesus Christ

Repent of (be sorry for) your sins and give your life to Christ.  With God, the time for Salvation is always "Now."

II Corinthians 6:2

"...behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."  -II Corinthians 6:2

Revelation 3:20

(Jesus said) "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice,  and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."  -Revelation 3:20

A Sample Prayer

Dear Lord Jesus,  Thank you for dying on the cross and shedding your precious blood for my sins.  I am sorry for all my sins.  I ask you to come into my heart,  forgive all my sins, and be my Lord and my Saviour.

Father, I thank you now for forgiving all my sins and giving me eternal life in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

A Psalm of Praise

And for growth in your prayer life...the Psalm to memorize with this Set of Memory Verses is:

Psalm 100

A Psalm of praise.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Know ye that the Lord he is God:

it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;

we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts

with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his

truth endureth to all generations.
