10/31/02________________________________________________________ Dear Monks, 10/31/02________________________________________________________ I've long believed in the simplicity and love as illustrated by St. Francis. I recently saw the Zeffirelli film, Brother Son, Sister Moon, and actually found your incredibly powerful site whilst researching this and trying to find a soundtrack for that movie. I can't seem to find a soundtrack on the film anywhere, but thought I'd ask you if you have any ideas? The St. Francis prayer was put to music in that film by the singer Donovan and I found it so inspired...I'm a cancer patient and I love listening to songs and music in praise and prayer. I'd really like to find a copy of the film soundtrack because I think it's especially uplifting. Thank you for any help you might be able to provide me with. Any ideas? Cathryn J. Note from The Prayer Foundation ™: We agree with you about finding the music from Zefirelli's Brother Son, Sister Moon to be inspiring and uplifting. The ancient melodies arranged by singer/songwriter Donovan were researched for the movie by Alfredo Bianchini. The lyrics were composed by Donovan (Leitch) and Diana Hofford, including the title song, "Brother Sun, Sister Moon." The St. Francis prayer, Canticle of Brother Sun (originally known as The Canticle of the Creatures), was not used in that song. Unfortunately, it was never released as a soundtrack. A Soundtrack containing only the symphonic compositions in the movie (without Donovan and his beautiful singing) was released in Europe. 10/30/02________________________________________________________ Monk William Back From China!
